MMA Celebrates Opening of Bissap Baobab

On Wednesday, 9-14-2022, we celebrated the grand opening of the new Bissap Baobab Village space on Mission Street!

Bissap Baobab Village, formerly comprising both Bissap Baobab and Little Baobab, embodies the culture of San Francisco’s popular and international Mission District. Little Baobab, our current home base, is an intimate bistro and club located at 3388 19th Street between Mission & Capp Street and serves dinner service from 5:30pm onward. Artisan cocktails and renowned Afrobeat events on Friday and Saturday nights add spice to Little Baobab's offerings.

Baobab Village expresses the vision of founder Marco Senghor, born and raised in Dakar and educated in Paris. His deep knowledge and appreciation of French West African culture, food, and music infuses the enticing ambiance of his establishments.

Little Baobab strives to create a sense of 'teranga,' which can be translated from Senegal's Wolof language to mean “hospitality.” Teranga is reserving the best part of the meal for one's guests; neighbors taking care of one another; being accepted for who you are.

As restaurant owner, social entrepreneur, and a dedicated community member, Marco has infused teranga into Baobab Village, transforming 19th & Mission into a multicultural enclave. One can truly experience the diversity of San Francisco by visiting this West African oasis.
