The holidays are on their way and the Girls are back! Take 4 talented drag performers, cast them in two Xmas episodes of the uproarious TV show: THE GOLDEN GIRLS, and you have the perfect holiday event for the entire family. In what has become a yearly tradition, this drag send-up and loving tribute to the characters the entire world has come to know and love, features local drag stars: Heklina (Dorothy), Matthew Martin (Blanche), D’Arcy Drollinger (Rose), and Holotta Tymes (Sophia). The show runs from Nov 29 - Dec 23, Thursdays - Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm. Three Sunday matinees at 2pm 12/9, 12/16, and 12/23.

In this hilariously heartwarming story, a prequel to Copeland’s hit solo show Not a Genuine Black Man, a young Brian heads to the “mean streets” of Oakland to buy his mom a Christmas present. When he finds the perfect gift – a jewelry box in the White Front store – six-year-old Brian sets out to earn the required $11.97 by Christmas Eve. THE JEWELRY BOX follows Brian’s adventures as he scours the “help wanted” ads, applies for jobs, and collects bottles, inching his way toward the perfect Christmas gift.
The Mission Arts and Performance Project features taking common spaces, and for one chaotic evening, transforming them into event spaces for free live music, spoken word, performance art, film screenings, BBQs, garage sales, unorthodox conversations, and happenings.

The Mission's annual celebration of resistance through music, the Encuentro del Canto Popular, is returning for its 37th year! This year will feature an intimate evening with psychedelic Indigenous soul rockers Almas Fronterizas and Bay Area Latin percussion legend John Santos. This year's theme is "Open Borders: Peace For All Asylum Seekers." and Accion Latina has partnered with Paseo Artístico, the Latino Cultural District’s bimonthly art stroll, to bring you a world-class concert completely FREE of charge (the first ever free "Encuentro"!)

The Howard Zinn Book Fair is an annual celebration of People’s History, Past Present, and Future gathering together authors, zinesters, bloggers and publishers for a day of nearly 60 readings, panel discussions and workshops exploring the value of dissident histories towards building a better future. This modern adaptation of The Thousand and One Nights or The Arabian Nights takes
the classic tale and places it into a modern-day university. Sher, a Muslim-American creative writing student, and Scheherazade, a superheroine of the Islamic golden age, take the audience on a journey through little-known historical figures such as Zheng Quain, Al-Mamun, Abu-Bakr and Atahualpa. One Googol and One is a piece about historical injustices and how our stories of the past shape our modern identities.
Come down to Valencia Street on Saturday the 8th anytime after noon, donate $10 - $20 (just once) at any participating merchant, and receive a Cookie Bag + map from them. Then spend the rest of your day exploring the Valencia Corridor, looking for balloons to guide your way, picking up cookies at any of the participating shops, meeting neighbors, shopping exclusive discounts, and discovering new spots along the way.
Mission Dolores Park - 19th & Dolores St. (7PM - 8:30PM)
Unsilent Night is a participatory sound artwork by composer Phil Kline, an ethereal, electronic soundscape played by the audience on boomboxes carried through city streets. Each participant gets one of four tracks of music in the form of a cassette, CD, or MP3. All four tracks played simultaneously comprise Unsilent Night. Bring a boombox, portable speaker, or anything that amplifies music, loaded with one of the piece's four tracks. When we're all assembled, we'll push play in unison and walk through the Mission back alleys as the piece unfolds.

Mission Dolores Basilica Church will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary of completion in December 2018. This is the 27th Annual Christmas Concert Presented by the Mission Dolores Basilica Choir, and the Christmas Concert is part of the Centennial celebration. The featured work of the Concert is the Messe Solennelle, also known as St. Cecilia’s Mass, which was completed in 1854 by French composer Charles Gounod.
