The Mission's top Vegan/Vegetarian restaurants
"It has never been easier — or more delicious — to embrace a plant-based diet. Not too long ago, vegetarian and vegan diners were limited to limp tofu bowls and nut loaves. In recent years, long-standing vegetarian and vegan fine dining staples like Millennium and Greens have been joined by a growing number of casual, innovative spots like the Butcher’s Son and Nourish Cafe. There are even plant-based burger chains like Next Level Burgers, Veggie Grill and VeganBurg. And the infamous veggie burger that bleeds, the Impossible Burger, has gone mainstream and is available at the Cheesecake Factory."
2 classic vegetarian/vegan eateries to try:
Millennium- A beloved plant-based fine-dining bay area restaurant that has been around since 1994 and thrived since it's move from SF to Oakland, Millennium offers a fresh local, sustainable, and organic menu.
Greens- Known for it's beautiful Marina views, innovative menu, and rich history, the SF favorite is set for reopening on October 15th.
2 "on the rise" vegetarian/vegan eateries to try:
Nourish Cafe- After only 3 years in business, Nourish now has two locations; the plant-based cafe draws attention
n for it's wide array of smoothies, bowls, and sandwiches.
The Butcher's Son- A vegan sandwich shop in downtown Berkeley known for their plant-based deli offerings.
